Artist Bio

Kelly Sherii (nee Kelly Sheridan) is an artist living and working in Pittsburgh, PA. Her use of color and materials in a playful, yet balanced, way is a confrontation of reappearing themes in her life.

Although she's always been a creative person, Kelly didn't consider painting to be a talent until she was invited to take AP Art in high school (and, soon after, offered a substantial scholarship to the Cleveland Institute of Art). She instead decided to attend Slippery Rock University to study special education, later adding a major in philanthropy and nonprofit management (one of her concentrations being art) to return to her passion for the arts and its advancement. This multifaceted experience led her to join Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh in 2019 as Manager of Government Grants, and later Assistant Director.

While also living in an Art House between 2019-2021, Kelly collaborated with other artists in the community to host monthly art shows and music performances for the Unblurred Art Crawl on Penn Avenue (with the exception of hosting during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic). Although she found herself progressively involved in community engagement and fundraising in the arts, it was only recently that she felt empowered to prioritize her own practice and more fully realize her artistic identity. In 2022, she began showing work in group art exhibitions at galleries including Vestige Concept Gallery, Thoughtrobbers Gallery, and Point Five Gallery.

Currently, Kelly has shifted from painting small watercolor works to taking advantage of the space she has in her at-home studio to explore her newly found passion for contemporary abstract expressionism. She plans to continuously experiment with various mediums and creative pursuits to support her ever-evolving artistic aspirations.
